A 4 issue limited series that continues the story of Miss Margaret Truesdale, a shy Victorian-era secretary who discovered a profound spiritual connection to her past life as Anum Yassa, a fierce gladiator from ancient Hyperborea. In The Rise of Man, the boundaries between the two women have completely dissolved. Miss Truesdale finds herself physically merged with Anum Yassa and trapped in the ancient past. The narrative follows her as she wanders through primeval forests, battling prehistoric beasts and supernatural horrors. However, she is being hunted by a "dark entity" determined to prevent the ascent of humanity. As she fights to protect the destiny of mankind, the series dives deep into the cosmic origins of the Hellboy Universe, revealing "deep truths" about the nature of time and the ancient evil forces that predated the modern B.P.R.D.
